When you think of Memorial Day Weekend, you probably start thinking of backyard barbecues and family get-togethers.

I’m pretty sure the last thing that comes to mind is shopping, but if you’re of a mind, it’s time to dust off your pocketbook and boogie on down to your local appliance or hardware store.

Because beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 28th and through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 30th, Texans have the opportunity to purchase ENERGY STAR® appliances and not pay the state sales tax.

Can we get a HECK YEAH?!

To put it in perspective, if you purchase a $6,000 HVAC unit, the savings could be as a high as $495 and if you are in the market for a new refrigerator and you eyeball one that has the Energy Star rating, your savings could be as high as $165.

Those are savings you can hardly shake a stick at. Can you say, “cha-ching?”

Don’t worry if you aren’t able to walk into a local appliance store and put your fingertips on your selection; you can use an online vendor … but some restrictions will apply. Additionally, delivery and installation charges can be free of sales tax as well (SCORE!) Check your local retail outlet to be 100% positive.

Air Conditioner, priced at $6000 or less
Refrigerators, priced at $2,000 or less
Ceiling Fans
Incandescent and/or Fluorescent Light Bulbs
Clothes Washers
Dishwashers
Dehumidifiers
