ADITND: ANTI-Disruption is the New Disruption

Dip your toe into any part of the tech pool—no matter the industry or vertical—and you’ll instantly be soaked in a deluge of DISRUPTION.

DISRUPTION.

DISRUPTION.

DISRUPTION.

(And, yes, we totally channelled a “Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!” there). But we digress.

Full disclosure: Urban Provision loves tech. We LOVE it. We use it in ways that, a few years ago, no one would have thought of. But honestly, if we hear someone say “We’re the Uber of _______!” or some such thing one more time, we’re gonna beat our heads into a table. And listen, Uber was (and is) great because, well, it’s UBER. It was truly a game-changing thing and it changed an entire industry (not unlike Napster and iTunes did with the recording industry).

And disruption—if the product or idea in question is disruptive for good reason and brings forth an idea that makes an industry better for consumers and its practitioners—is great. But disruption for the sake of disruption? Please, for the love of all that is right and holy, MAKE IT STOP.

Real Estate falls victim to the siren song of disruption as much (if not more than) any other industry. The Real Estate landscape is strewn with the tattered carcasses of “disruptive” technologies that disrupted the industry about as much as a gnat disrupts a backyard BBQ. REALTORS® are notorious for getting starry-eyed over the latest and (::cough:: not-so) greatest shiny object.

Well, hold on to your hats, folks, because we’ve got some real disruption for you. This is some serious, groundbreaking stuff right here. You might want to sit down.

THE NEW DISRUPTION … IS ANTI-DISRUPTION.

Let us explain.

If you’re a consumer, you want technology that’s going to make your real estate transaction better, sure, but what you really want is an agent who will answer their phone. Right? How about a REALTOR who responds to your emails and answers your questions and explains things to you? How about someone who goes to bat for you and provides cogent advice?

This stuff might not be all that exciting, but it’s all too uncommon and no matter how many apps or widgets or whizzbangs a REALTOR® has, they are all for naught if the agent cannot manage to pick up the phone.

ANTI-DISRUPTION means doing the stuff that goes without saying, but that hardly anyone seems to get right. ANTI-DISRUPTION is providing your customers with the best possible experience they can imagine—and then some.

At Urban Provision, this concept of anti-disruption (though this is a new term, and you’re welcome) is the foundation of all we do. Our agents are armed with the best in tech—things that will help them do their jobs more efficiently and that will make the real estate experience better for their customers and clients—but the thing that makes an Urban Provision agent stand out is that they their job to the highest standard of excellence in the industry.

Real Estate doesn’t need disruption. When you get right down to it, that’s nothing but noise. What we need is a job well-done by people who take care of their clients, and who are stewards of the real estate industry on the whole. Real Estate needs ANTI-DISRUPTION, and that’s just what you’ll find here at Urban Provision.
