Moving Tips

Who better to serve up tips on moving than your trusted real estate agents at Urban Provision. Moving can be one of the most stressful life events for even the most organized person. To make sure you have all your bases covered we have outlined some moving tips to help you on your way.

Packing

Think outside the box when packing boxes. Plastic grocery sacks make great box filler when your belongings don’t fill up an entire box or are fragile. If looking for boxes check online and with your friends in social media or at your office. Its not uncommon to find a plethora of free boxes at your local liquor store. For additional packing supplies look to your movers or there is even the option of renting boxes from Bronko Box.

Preparing Your Previous Residence

Once you’re all packed up and ready to vacate, don’t forget about how the new residents will arrive in their new home. Schedule a maid service for a thorough cleaning after all furniture is gone and home is empty.  Don’t forget to include your garage in the cleaning process, as they are often neglected and usually the first place for boxes to be deposited.

The Big Move

Hire professional movers and interview a couple moving companies. Get references from friends and check their BBB rating. We suggest Square Cow Movers. Enlist the help of friends or family to assist with watching your children or pets. Both can become easily stressed or injured during the moving process. It is often a good idea to book a hotel room for the night prior to your move or the night of your move, as you may not have a bed set up yet to sleep in.

Your New Home

Even though it has been said before – verify a second time that all utilities are connected. You can transfer most all utilities online, however when shopping for a deal on cable TV a phone call will provide you with the best rates. Update your address on all of your online accounts as they may not receive your change of address. Be certain to schedule or allow for time away from work to handle all utility service providers, delivery people and the actual act of unpacking. Last but not least, make sure your children are registered at any new schools due to your address change.

Moving can be quite a process, these tips will ensure a smooth transition for you and your family. We hope you enjoyed this post and return again soon to discover our future posts containing more real estate information and tips.
